Flowers and Fence Cross

flowers and fence form a cross

“Yesterday during morning exercise, [I was] thinking about a story I had heard about young men in Memphis who had expressed concern to their mentors about the lack of beauty in their neighborhood, and I was thinking ‘I could relate.’ Later I saw these roses and walked over closer and was startled to see the cross. Have been pondering ever since.”

  1. Jamie, thanks, this is a great one, and very thought provoking. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. OR, beauty is everywhere, you just have to look for it.

  2. A cross with roses sort of draped around it, reminds me of St. Therese of Lisieux. Was it she who said, she would shower petals onto earth, if we asked her favours? So:
” Little Flower, show your power: let there be visible beauty, so people may find God at this hour”.

    • That might be a good series here on Picturing God, Andie–seeing the crosses everywhere. I’m sure you and Jamie aren’t the only ones to see them.

  3. Whenever things hit me like that, I feel they are God’s messages / gifts to us. Thank you for sharing this with all of us!
