Wayna Picchu Steps

stairs to Wayna Picchu

“These steps are on the path that one ascends to get to the summit at Wayna Picchu, the mountain next to Machu Picchu in Peru. They remind me that I am seeing God in every step of the journey, no matter how arduous. The steps almost seem to lead nowhere, but only faith can move our every step forward in the face of such things.”

Thank you for publishing this favorite photo of mine; that day was one of real conversion for me. AMDG!

Fran, I’m happy to share such a great photo accompanied by your insight. The photo makes me wonder if I could handle the climbs of Machu Picchu if given the chance to visit, but you’re right that God would be there every step of the way.

Denise – the story of these steps is the story of me first becoming a writer. However, that essay remains unedited and unpublished. The words won’t come out right – and I publish a lot on my blog, so it is not just me being self-critical. Who understands these things? I get it out every few years, like a pair of old jeans that will not zip and fool around with trying to make it work. So far, no luck.

God was there and God sent some human helpers too – thanks be to God!
