“Here’s a picture of the Advent calendar I made for our family this year. The doors are cut on three sides, and on the inside, I glued a piece of paper listing something to do that day, such as a treat or something charitable, and a related Bible verse. We bring cookies of thanks to our parish priest or our local police department, or we get a treat at an ice cream parlor or designer coffee shop. Don’t forget the local animal shelter or women’s/children’s safe houses—there are many charity ‘wish lists’ online!”
