“You could see the pilgrims all around Rome. Following a simple cross with the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy emblem, they prayed as they headed toward the Holy Door in St. Peter’s Basilica. They were not shy. They were not haughty. They simply walked and prayed. When my wife asked to join a group inside the Basilica, one of the pilgrims handed her a book of prayers. She did not speak the same language, but she joined in their prayer the best she could. It didn’t matter in the least as their prayers joined with each other to the greater glory of God in this Year of Mercy.”
